ABOUT OONA HANSON

Oona is a nationally recognized writer, educator, and parent coach who supports families navigating diet culture and eating disorders.

In addition to her private practice as a parent coach, Oona has also worked as a Family Mentor at Equip Health, where she was part of multidisciplinary care teams treating children with eating disorders.

Oona has presented at the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals Symposium and the Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo, and she has been published in Focus: The Journal of Lifelong Learning in Psychiatry.

Oona holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from California State University Northridge and a Master’s Degree in English from Middlebury College. Her undergraduate degree in English is from Princeton University.

Passionate about helping kids build confidence and self-efficacy, Oona developed Common Sense Camp in 2020, a program to help parents teach their kids essential life skills during “lockdown summer” and beyond.

A regular contributor to CNN, Oona and her work have been featured widely, including in People, USA Today, US News & World Report, Today, PopSugar, Grown & Flown, Your Teen, and The Washington Post. She is a frequent podcast guest and has appeared on television programs, including Good Morning America and Good Day LA. She and her family reside in Los Angeles.
