ABOUT OONA HANSON

Oona has been an educator for over twenty-five years. After graduating magna cum laude from Princeton University, Oona taught English and coached in Massachusetts at Groton School and The Winsor School and in Los Angeles at Harvard-Westlake School.

After stepping away from the classroom, she continued to work with students as a private tutor and volunteered at the local public elementary school. As the co-founder of a team that endeavored to start a new independent school for boys, Oona learned even more about the needs and concerns of parents.

Oona earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from California State University Northridge and a Master’s Degree in English from Middlebury College.

Through her writing, workshops, and private consultations, Oona supports families in raising kids who have a healthy relationship with food and their body. In addition to her private practice as a parent coach, Oona also worked as a Family Mentor at Equip, where she was part of a multidisciplinary care team treating children with eating disorders.

Passionate about helping kids build confidence and self-efficacy, Oona developed Common Sense Camp in 2020, a program to help parents teach their kids essential life skills.

Oona’s work has been featured in various publications, including People, USA Today, US News & World Report, Today, CNN, PopSugar, Grown & Flown, Your Teen, and The Washington Post. In addition, she has appeared on multiple podcasts and television programs, including Good Morning America and Good Day LA. She and her family reside in Los Angeles.
